Drilling power
The best combi drills are all about finding the optimum balance between power and weight. The DCD785LT2 is a great example. It’s one of the lightest 18V combi drills out there and still enables you to drill 13mm holes into concrete, 13mm into metal, and a hefty 38mm in wood. With 240 Watts you get a No Load Speed of 0-600/2,000 rpm that delivers 0-10,200/34,000 bpm.

Batteries
We really like the slide-on XR Li-Ion technology, a nice little touch that reflects the drills overall mission to make you work that little bit more smoothly. Pop it in quickly, slide it out fast. The two 3.0Ah batteries come with a 30 minute multi voltage charger for use with 18V, 14.4V and 10.8V XR Li-Ion slide-pack batteries – so it’s compatible with all your other XRP li-ion batteries.

Drill dimensions
Length: 202 mm, Height: 218 mm, Width: 80 mm. Weight: 1.88kg. Lighter than Bosch’s GSB18VE2-LICP Compact and and very similar in size to Makita’s BTP140RFE – it’s a very nippy and powerful drill.

Torque

You don’t get quite the range of torque positions you do with some other combi drill – 14 – and the max torque itself is 35Nm, not the most powerful out there. However this is more a reflection of DeWalt’s view that a quick worker instinctively knows which setting to use and won’t want to mess about with 25 settings to get there.
